Romance in Paris – Romantic Things to do in Paris

Hmmm…considering a romantic getaway in Europe? Whilst there are so many places to visit, Paris often makes the top of the list for romantic getaways in Europe and the nice part about it is a long weekend is enough time to bring you and your partner closer together, I mean they don’t call it the city of love for no reason.

With the title ‘The City of Love’ it’s no wonder so many couple come every year for honeymoons and to celebrate anniversaries. From the moment you get there you’ll find that the opportunities for romance are endless.

The Eiffel Tower is amongst the most romantic places in Paris it’s no wonder it’s such a popular destination for proposals. Scaling this iconic Parisian staples will not disappoint as the views are just amazing. However these views are best appreciated at night when the city twinkles and you can watch the sun set whilst toasting a glass of champagne in the Tower Bar/Restaurant. If you hoping to skip the views make sure to buy your tickets in advance or book a sunset tour.

Parc des Buttes Chaumont is located in the 19th arrondissement. Whils there are many parks in Paris, none can boast of a waterfall quite like the one in Parc des Buttes Chaumont. The park covers 61 acres of hilly ground but provides a great place to chill out, so why not have a picnic for two then take a stole over to the waterfall to capture the full romance.

Paris has a great nightlife and what better thing to do then go watch a show. Paris is famous for its cabarets like Moulin Rouge, La Nouvelle Eve, Le Crazy Horse just to name a few. The great thing is that most cabarets offer show packages that include dinner and/or champagne; with the dinner option giving you more time at the club and the added bonus of picking the best seats (dinner is usually served around 2 hours before the show starts). This is also a fun way to eat a tradition French cuisine. It’s best to get your tickets in advance so you can decide which package is best for you.

Temple de l’Amour or the Temple of Love was built in 1778, on a small island in The Parc. In the centre of the temple stands a replica of Bouchardon statue otherwise depicting a cupid, the original can be found in the Louvre Museum. The great part about the temple is that not only is it very beautiful and romantic, but the only way to reach it is by boat. When I say boat I’m talking the paddling size. This is a great way for you and your partner to create cute and romantic memories and getting a little workout in-between all the lovey dovey faces. This temple is a big attraction for couples looking to renew their vows and propose. And just like its name, it is believed that sharing a kiss at the centre of the temple strengthens a couples love and relationship. So what better place to share a romantic kiss and show your partner how much you love them!

An evening of dancing is a great excuse to get all dressed! People gather at the mini amphitheatres along the Seine in the 5th arrondissement, this usually takes place in the summer months between June and August from about 7pm onwards. People of different backgrounds and levels gather together to let their hair down and have a party. And don’t worry if you have to left feet, the locals will make you feel right at home and even if you don’t join in, the atmosphere alone is full of romance and you’re welcome to come and watch. If you want you could bring a bottle and sit by the river and enjoy the music.

As we all know France is known for having amazing food, and Paris definitely won’t let you down. From French pastries at breakfast to a delicious French onion soup at dinner; and what better way to enjoy your food than a roof top restaurant with the Eiffel Tower as your backdrop. Better still you could take a boat cruise down the Siene River and let all of Paris be you backdrop to a sunset dinner. So that’s food sorted!
